What is the structure of hair and how to prepare for hand waxing?

Waxing handsand other parts of the body will only make sense if we properly prepare our hair and skin for depilation. It is worth paying attention to and learning how the hair that covers our body is built. The hair consists of three different layers – the deepest of them is the medulla, then the cortex of the hair, and the outer layer is called the cuticle. An interesting thing is that each hair is made of exactly the same protein substance, i.e. keratin, from which our nails are also made. The hair itself is dead, but its growth and reproduction takes place in living cells located in the dermis. An important element of each hair is the matrix, i.e. the very actively dividing cells located in its lower part. When waxing the hands and other parts of the body, the beautician weakens the matrix. The purpose of this action is to destroy the damage or weaken the matrix, so that hair regrowth can be effectively eliminated. How to prepare hair before the procedure? The most important condition is that they are of the appropriate length. The ideal length of hair should be 0.5 centimeters. Only the appropriate length of hair will perfectly blend into the applied wax, thanks to which the depilation will run smoothly and will give the best results.

Liquid strip wax, or what technique we use in our salons

Out of concern for the well-being and satisfaction of our clients with the services offered during whole body depilation, we propose an effective method of getting rid of unwanted hair: strip liquid wax. This method is hair removal using specialized strips made of 100% cotton. What does the treatment look like when using them? The whole process begins with applying liquid wax, which has previously been heated to the appropriate temperature, to selected parts of the skin with a spatula, and then tearing it off using strips. During the entire treatment, hair is removed along with the bulbs, resulting in beautifully smooth and silky skin for up to four weeks. If we want our skin to always look impeccable, regularity is an extremely important aspect of waxing. Regular use of our services will cause your hair to become lighter, weaker and thinner. To use the liquid wax strip treatment, you must properly prepare your hair so that it has a minimum length of about 0.5 centimeters.

Preparation for hand waxing

In order for the procedure to take place in safe conditions and not to cause any side effects, it is worth preparing appropriately and checking whether our body has any contraindications to its performance. A few days before the planned treatment, you should not sunbathe intensively or use exfoliating treatments. It is also recommended not to use creams with fruit acids, as they may have a strong exfoliating and irritating effect. If you suffer from chronic skin diseases or are currently suffering from e.g. hair folliculitis – be sure to inform the beautician about this before the treatment begins. It may turn out that for the sake of your health, it cannot take place. What is worth doing before the procedure? A few days before, perform a coarse-grained peeling, which will help get rid of dead epidermis from our skin and expose hair. On the day of the procedure, it is also not recommended to use creams, balms and other moisturizing oils on the depilated areas, because if the skin is excessively oiled, the wax will stick to it much worse. Before the treatment, it is worth taking a closer look at the area to be depilated. There should be no bruises, open wounds or scabs, even small ones. The skin should be smooth, free of pimples and allergic lesions. Before the treatment, you should show the beautician any birthmarks and moles, as they cannot be depilated. After the treatment, it is worth protecting the skin properly, for example by using a soothing cream with zinc oxide, which is effective against irritations.
